“Three Mobile Tops UK Network Speeds in Latest Ookla Tests”

Must read

In the latest network performance tests by Ookla, Three Mobile has emerged as the top choice for fast download speeds among UK mobile providers. Three outperformed its competitors with an average download speed of 214Mbps, which is significantly faster than its closest rival and double the UK fixed-line broadband average speed.

Vodafone secured the second position in the rankings, followed by EE in third place, while O2 lagged behind with the slowest speeds overall. Ookla confirmed Three as the Fastest 5G Network in the UK for the Q3-Q4 2025 period, based on Speed Score metrics that evaluate network throughput and responsiveness.

Key results from Ookla’s tests include:
– Overall Speed Score: Three (53.46), Vodafone (43.05), EE (36.73), O2 (30.70)
– Median download speeds: Three (214Mbps), Vodafone (129.78Mbps), EE (97Mbps), O2 (78.92Mbps)
– Median upload speeds: Three (13.8Mbps), Vodafone (10.78Mbps), EE (10.96Mbps), O2 (8.28Mbps)

While acknowledging the challenges of testing mobile networks due to varying conditions, Ookla’s results highlight Three’s dominance in speed performance. The recent merger between Three and Vodafone aims to enhance network capabilities through an £11 billion investment, potentially leading to improved service quality and coverage nationwide.

The integration of the two networks using Multi-Operator Core Network technology post-merger allows seamless connectivity for Vodafone and Three customers without additional charges, promising expanded coverage and better performance across the UK.
