Two fresh faces are set to join the lineup for the upcoming Season 2 of Crave’s popular hockey-themed series, “Heated Rivalry.” Daniel Diemer, a talented Canadian actor recognized for his role as Tyson in the TV series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” will take on the character of hockey player Ryan Price. Meanwhile, Welsh actor Shaheen Jafargholi, who is also set to appear in the HBO series “War,” will portray musician Fabian Salah, Ryan’s romantic interest in the storyline.
The characters of Ryan and Fabian are at the center stage of the third installment in Rachel Reid’s best-selling hockey romance series, “Game Changers,” titled “Tough Guy.” The narrative follows the journey of professional hockey enforcer Ryan as he transitions to the Toronto team. Venturing into the city’s gay village, Ryan unexpectedly reunites with Fabian, an aspiring musician with whom he almost shared a kiss during their high school days. Despite the years that have passed, their undeniable chemistry reignites. However, a potential future together may require Ryan to make a tough decision about his hockey career.
Writer Jacob Tierney and producer Brendan Brady expressed their excitement about the addition of Daniel and Shaheen to the cast, highlighting the unique energy and depth they bring to the characters created by Rachel Reid. Season 1 of the series adapted the first two books in Reid’s series, “Game Changer” and “Heated Rivalry.”
In Season 2 of “Heated Rivalry,” the storyline will continue to follow the romantic journey of hockey rivals-turned-lovers Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, characters from Reid’s novel “The Long Game.” Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie will reprise their roles in the TV adaptation.
Additionally, the upcoming season will integrate the stories of Troy Barrett, a hockey player traded to Ilya’s new team, and Harris Dover, a social media manager, based on the fifth novel in the book series, “Role Model.” Justice Smith has been cast as Harris, and Charlie Gillespie, known for his role in “Julie and the Phantoms,” will play Troy. Notable new cast members include Emily Hampshire from “Schitt’s Creek” and drag queen Priyanka.
“Heated Rivalry” Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in spring 2027, promising fans more drama, romance, and hockey action.
