Dancing on Ice star issues heartfelt statement after being dealt crushing blow hours before final

Coronation Street favourite Sam Aston is facing a tough challenge just hours before the Dancing on Ice live final. While he will be competing in the grand finale alongside Michaela Strachan and Anton Ferdinand, bookies suggest he might not skate away with the top prize.

Bookmaker Coral has pitched TV host Michaela as the clear frontrunner, with odds of 4-7 putting her in the lead. Behind her is Sam, holding 6-4 chances of emerging victorious, while Anton Ferdinand stands as the dark horse at 20-1.

Ahead of the showdown, Sam took to Instagram to share a heartfelt reflection on his Dancing on Ice journey. Pictured sitting pensively in the show’s iconic tunnel with a view of the icy stage, he added an emotional caption.

Expressing his gratitude, Sam penned: “Heading into the last week feeling super grateful for the experience. And I just want to thank everyone that has got behind me and voted and supported me throughout.”

With humility, he continued: “I feel incredibly lucky. If the show has taught me anything – it’s good to get out your comfort zone and really push yourself. Thanks @dancingonice it’s been a blast! Roll on the final,” reports the Express.

Friends, fans, and colleagues have flooded the comments section to send their best wishes. Coronation Street’s own Instagram echoed the sentiment, commenting: “Good luck, Sam and Molly! We’re so proud of you!”

Fellow actor Ryan Thomas rallied with support, posting: “Let’s go champ,” while Chris Fountain added: “Good luck mate.”

Dancing on Ice fans also showed their love for the finalist. One wrote, “Sam, go out and win. You deserve it. You’re amazing. ” Another penned, ” So proud of you, Sam!!! This picture is an emotional one. You have been genuine and true to yourself. Huge amounts of love and luck from all of us!!”

During his semi-final performance, Sam and his partner Molly nailed their routine to Queen’s hit song “I Want to Break Free.” They secured a spot in the final, receiving perfect scores from three of the four judges and a near-perfect 9.5 from Jayne Torvill.

However, last weekend’s episodes saw a much more intense and suspenseful skate-off between the eliminated contestant Dan Edgar of TOWIE and Anton. Despite a strong performance in the skate-off, Dan lost out on a final spot to Anton, whose save was deemed controversial and divided opinions amongst fans at home.

Dancing on Ice returns tonight at 6.30pm on ITV.
