A household name, Ben Shephard has been a mainstay on British TV for over two decades, charming audiences with his warm and friendly on-screen presence.

Ben’s journey in journalism began in the late 1990s, presenting The Bigger Breakfast on Channel 4 in 1998, alongside Melanie Sykes and fellow ITV personality Dermot O’Leary. That same year, he became the inaugural host of T4 on Channel 4, marking the beginning of his remarkable television career.

Throughout his illustrious career, Shephard has been a fixture on various popular shows, including a 10-year stint on the GMTV sofa and hosting Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports with his close friend, former footballer Chris Kamara. Until recently, he shared the Good Morning Britain desk with Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway, and Charlotte Hawkins.

But what do we know about the 50-year-old’s life away from TV including his family home and wife?

Now 50, the devoted West Ham United supporter has spoken candidly about his health and fitness regimen. During an Instagram Q&A session, Ben revealed his reliance on a budget-friendly breakfast staple to maintain his physique: “I get some porridge and I will add protein powder.”

Fans can follow Ben’s lead by picking up a 1kg bag of Aldi’s Everyday Essential Porridge Oats for 90p, working out to a mere 9p per serving.

The Manchester Evening News reports the TV host has been grappling with a stubborn back and knee injury, but he’s hell-bent on achieving peak fitness. He confessed to having struggled with “a middle aged” back injury since 2018, which was further complicated by a knee injury he sustained during a football match that necessitated surgery.

He previously revealed his reliance on Glucosamine supplements for his knee and back pain, in addition to Vitals.

“[I use] Glucosamine for my joints to try and help with my knee and my back, using heights,” he disclosed. “Vitals, I think are amazing and their magnesium as well.”

Ben Shephard is happily wedded to Annie after they married in March 2004 on Burgh Island, just off the Devon coast.

Their love story began in 1995 when Ben met Annie while studying at the University of Birmingham. Annie was a Philosophy student and headed up the Philosophy and Epistemology society.

The couple share two sons: Sam, 19, and Jack, 17.

Annie has quietly carved out an impressive career in media and design. Prior to motherhood, Annie worked for prestigious fashion and interior design magazines, including House and Garden, Glamour, Elle Deco, Elle, and Red.

She channels her passion for interior design and writing through her blog, The House Editor.

Ben Shephard resides with his family in a sprawling £4 million property in Richmond, West London. The gorgeous home features a modern kitchen and ultra-chic interiors.

The telly host gave fans a peek into his home in an Instagram update as he celebrated his 50th birthday.

His snazzy dining hall features a grey-slated wooden table and trendy green armchairs, all set against the backdrop of an impressive kitchen decked out in grey fittings, a grand central island, and generous windows inviting a flood of daylight.

Accenting this airy space, there’s a television neatly tucked away in one corner, chic lightwood flooring underfoot, and clever lighting including a sleek floor lamp to add a bit of evening mood.

Over in the lounge, it’s all about comfort with luxurious green couches, candles ready for twilight on a chunky wood table, and another TV strategically placed above the fireplace. A cosy nook boasts a sunny yellow chair, presenting a lush view out to the splendid terrace.

His outdoor haven is well-loved by the family, featuring apple trees, flourishing veg plots, and a social fire pit paved area. Ben often posts moments spent in the garden, enjoying marshmallow treats or grilling up a feast with family and friends.
