Vodafone broadband DOWN as hundreds of customers left with no internet access

Vodafone broadband customers have found themselves without internet access following a major outage.

Hundreds of complaints have been logged to outage checker Downdetector this morning. According to the website, more than 700 reports were logged just before 8am.

Outages were reported across the UK, with the majority being logged in major cities, such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Many people shared their concern about the outage in a flurry of posts shared to social media.

One customer going by PerspectiveDMDC said on X/Twitter: “@Vodafone – why is my 900mbps broadband only giving me <1mbps? Sort it out now, I have work to do.” User Tom Miller added: “@Vodafone my broadband is down, got 2 people trying to work from home today. Please advise.”

X/Twitter account @Merrryyyy commented: “@Vodafone what’s going on with broadband? I have no internet and it won’t allow me to check my service online. You’ve said you have too many requests to do it?” User Susan posted: “@Vodafone I have no internet. Box is working.”

A Vodafone spokesperson told The Mirror: “We’re aware of an issue with CityFibre affecting some of our customers. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while the issue is being resolved.”

A CityFibre spokesperson later told The Mirror the issue was resolved, adding: “A CityFibre spokesperson said: “A configuration issue was causing intermittent problems on our network this morning. The issue was quickly identified and resolved, with everyone back up and running by 9.30am. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

On its website, Vodafone recommends any customers experiencing any faults to run tests to check their connection. You will need your My Vodafone login details to do this.

The broadband and mobile provider has a section on its website where people can complain if they are unhappy with their service. There are steps it recommends customers follow before calling the complaints team on 0333 3040 441.

Customers can also make use of a live chat service and fill in a form if they choose. A problem that remains unresolved for eight weeks can lead you to escalate the issue to the Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme.
