Nursery security guard kills poisonous snake with her bare teeth – then cycles herself to hospital

Must read

A female security guard at a nursery school killed a snake by biting it after it bit her on her big toe – before she cycled to hospital for a shot of antivenom.

The security guard, who preferred not to be named, filmed herself showing the dead coral snake after she arrived at hospital in Jaragua do Sul, in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, so that medics would know which antivenom to give her. She had just arrived at work on the morning of 7th March wearing flip-flops when the snake bit her. She said that she killed the snake because she was afraid that it would hurt one of the children. Despite already starting to feel nauseous and dizzy from the venom, she got on her bike and rode to the nearest hospital carrying the dead snake along. After arriving at hospital, she was admitted in serious condition.

She has since made a full recovery and has been discharged. The woman told local media: “It was slithering into the daycare. I was afraid it would hide where the children were playing and they would get bitten.”

Biologist Gilberto Ademar Duwe from the Jaraguaense Environmental Foundation (Fujama), said that in cases like this, it is recommended that the population call for emergency services such as Fujama or the fire department to avoid accidents.

Under Brazilian law, killing wild animals, including snakes, is prohibited by law and constitutes an environmental crime. It is unclear if the security guard faces any legal consequences for killing the snake.

Coral snakes are a large group of reptiles that include 27 species of Old World coral snakes and 83 species of New World coral snakes. All of the New World coral snakes are venomous, but few of them are deadly.

Earlier this month, dramatic video footage captured the moment a man was left in excruciating pain after a snake bit his penis. The victim was seen sitting on the ground in a forest while grimacing as the large reptile was seen munching his groin area through his trousers.

A friend assisted the man by placing a stick in the snake’s mouth and pouring water over its head – but the reptile refused to budge. The man was seen holding near the snake’s head with one hand while the other holds the large reptile’s body.

At one point, the snake appears to jerk suddenly, forcing the man to let out another cry of pain. The clip was filmed in the Pantanal, west of Brasilia, Brazil, which encompasses the world’s largest flooded grasslands and tropical wetland area.

One person said: “Who is going to suck out the poison?” Another added: “It hurt watching that and I’m not even a guy.” Renata joked: “Must be an egg-eating snake.” Jose remarked: “That’s a snake swallowing another snake right there.”

Rafael added: “If it’s a Black Mamba, the chances of survival are slim. Even more so in this area of his body, castration for sure.” Reports said the man was taken to hospital for medical treatment after the snake eventually loosened its grip on his nether regions. There have been no further updates on his current condition.

Back in 2020, a teenager was rushed to hospital after a snake bit him on the penis while sitting on the toilet. Siraphop Masukarat went to the loo when he felt a sudden searing pain in his manhood.
