A savvy woman has taken to social media to share her ingenious tip for rustling up the ideal fried egg – without a frying pan.

Eggs are a staple quick fix when hunger strikes, and while they’re typically easy to whip up, nailing the perfect fried egg can still throw some cooks off their game. Too crispy on the bottom, rubbery whites, or an overdone yolk? Those egg woes could be a thing of the past.

Enter TikTok user @clairenlson74, who unveiled her super speedy solution that promises a flawless fried egg in just 40 seconds – right from the microwave. Eschewing traditional methods like pans or air fryers, Claire opts for efficiency and health with this cooking hack.

The process begins with a simple teaspoon of vegetable oil on a paper plate, followed by the cracking of an egg onto the oiled surface. After sealing the deal with another paper plate on top, into the microwave it goes.

“Then we’re going to microwave it for 40 seconds,” she says, before presenting the finished product: an impeccably cooked egg. Seasoning it with a bit of salt and pepper, Claire then samples her creation: “That’s good. That’s really good. So easy and no clean up. Absolutely delicious.”

Viewers have been left amazed by the trick, flooding the comments with their appreciation. One confessed how it took them years to stumble upon such simplicity.

Another praised the hassle-free nature of the method, saying: “Love the no clean up!” Meanwhile, another learner chimed in with joy: “Learned something new today!!” Another savvy cook suggested: “You can also spray the paper plate with cooking spray instead of using the oil to reduce on the greasiness.”

This comes hot on the heels of a woman’s genius hack for creating “perfect” poached eggs in under four minutes. Londoner Alice has been hailed for her foolproof method, which she shared on her TikTok account @lifeof.alice, earning her praise such as the “best hack I’ve ever seen”.

Her secret? A frying pan and a sieve. Alice starts by boiling water in a frying pan, then places a sieve into the simmering water. She cracks an egg into the sieve and lets it sit for three and a half minutes.

After lifting the sieve out of the water, she’s left with a perfectly poached egg. She serves her egg atop a rice cake, sprinkled with chives, and cuts through the middle to reveal the runny yolk of her “foolproof poached eggs”.

One viewer dubbed the trick as “life changing”, while another added: “Now that looks sexy.”
