Lorraine Kelly was left blushing after she accidentally uttered a risque word during her regular visit to the Good Morning Britain studio.
The 64-year-old host was chatting with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls about the upcoming celebrities she would be hosting on her daytime chat show on Monday, March 10, when the saucy term slipped out live on-air.
Excited about welcoming Poirot star Sir David Suchet, given the release of Agatha Christie’s latest novel, Lorraine enthused: “Sir David Suchet is coming in and i just wondered, you know what he makes…. and what Poirot would have made of (Towards) Zero the new Agatha Christie, it’s called Sh*****a Christie apparently.”
A shocked Susanna interrupted, saying: “I beg your pardon,” taken aback by Lorraine’s choice of words, especially so early in the morning. Oblivious to her faux pas, Lorraine innocently asked: “Am I allowed to say that?” To which Ed bluntly replied: “No.”
Shrugging off the embarrassing moment, the Scottish presenter retorted: “Well I just have,” before adding: “Anyway, I apologise for apologising and I’ll apologise again for myself.”
Trying to regain her composure and continue with her update, she added of the new BBC drama: “Anyway, it’s raunchy, Agatha Christie is raunchy which I don’t really think that you need but we’ll find out what David thinks,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
“Ok”, responded a sceptical Susanna. As Lorraine told viewers: “Sorry about that,” she began to chuckle to herself.
Ed tried to lighten the atmosphere, quipping: “No, you’ve livened it up.” Susanna however couldn’t resist playfully teasing about the situation.
Susanna, who was grinning, shared: “At the weekend Lorraine was asked what she’s really like in a newspaper interview and she said she’s ‘exactly like Lorraine but only more sweary’.”
Making further light of the matter, she declared: “But you’ve decided to be a bit more raunchy on-air,” to which Lorraine responded defensively: “But that’s not me, that was everybody that was saying that.”
Lorraine Kelly airs weekdays on ITV1, from 9am.
