Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers’ wife Lili opens up on ‘last journey’ as motorbike goes up for sale

Must read

Lili Myers, wife of the late Dave Myers, has shared touching details about her husband’s final days and his beloved motorbike, which is now up for grabs. The much-loved TV personality from the Hairy Bikers passed away in February last year at 66 following a battle with cancer.

His cherished bike, which featured in the Hairy Bikers series, is set to go under the hammer on March 26.

During a pre-recorded segment on BBC Breakfast aired on Monday (March 10), Lili, accompanied by reporter Jayne McCubbin, visited the bike shop where she emotionally remarked: “Gosh look at that. It’s wonderful to see it again.”

Reflecting on Dave’s passion for biking, Lili said: “He was so excited about it because just a few months before he never thought that he would ride a bike again.”

She expressed her joy at seeing him back on two wheels: “Of course I was delighted that he was able to do it again. This was his last horse and it was with him on his last journey. He was like a little kid in a toy shop, whenever there was a whiff of some adventure,” reports the Express.

The bike gained fame on the final Hairy Bikers series, showcasing Dave and his co-star Si King as they embarked on a scenic journey along the UK’s west coast, from Scotland to Devon. Following Dave’s death, their last trip together aired as a heartfelt homage to him.

The BSA Goldstar, typically valued at around £8,000, is hoped to fetch upwards of £10,000 at auction, with proceeds benefiting two causes dear to Myers – the NSPCC and the Institute for Cancer Research.

A spokesperson for BSA revealed: “By taking part in the auction, you’re not only giving yourself a shot at owning a piece of Hairy Bikers history, but you’re also making a real difference. Join us in honouring Dave’s legacy and supporting two causes that are making the world a better place.”

They added emphatically: “Both charities were close to Dave’s heart, making this raffle more than just a chance to take home something special – it’s an opportunity to contribute to the causes he deeply cared about.”

BBC Breakfast is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
