Dan Osborne has revealed his latest business venture has run into difficulties as he announced his split from wife Jacqueline Jossa.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star got the keys to a shop last summer. Taking to Instagram, the 33-year-old proudly told his one million followers he wanted to turn it into “the best tanning shop in Essex”.
At the time he wrote: “WE FINALLY GOT THE KEYS!!! After 7 months we have now got the keys to our shop in Benfleet, Essex! Work begins now. This shop is going to look unreal when we’re done with it!”
Revealing what the shop was going to be, dad-of-three Dan added: “Me & Ryan Osborne are excited to bring the best quality sunbeds to Essex!! We’ll also be offering a range of aesthetic & beauty treatments. Follow @paradiseinbenfleet to stay up to date with the progress of our salon.”
But nine months on and the shop still hasn’t opened, with Dan telling his followers there had been some hold ups with the electrics along the way. He shared: “We’re still waiting on the electricity I’m afraid. We’ve been waiting for EDF Energy for 4 months to install a meter.”
It comes as Dan and wife Jac, who share daughters Ella, 10, and Mia, six, announced over the weekend they were separating after eight years of marriage. Since then both have been spotted without their wedding rings.
Releasing a joint statement, a rep for the former couple said: “Jacqueline and Dan are handling things privately, choosing to keep their lives and relationship out of the public eye. They kindly ask for respect and privacy as they navigate this together.
“Their children remain their top priority, surrounded by love and care from both parents — something that will never change. Above all, Jacqueline and Dan have each other’s and their children’s best interests at heart.”
But it has since emerged the pair had a huge row when it was reportedly revealed that Dan – fearing the relationship was about to end – secretly bought a house in Southend in Essex behind EastEnder’s star Jac’s back.
When 32-year-old Jac found out, it’s said to have sparked a blazing row and “reignited old trust issues” between the pair, leaving Jac left feeling “betrayed”. A source told MailOnline: “Dan bought a house last year without telling Jacqueline until the final stages.”
They added: “He put the wheels in motion because he believed their relationship was coming to an end and with Jacqueline owning their marital home, he needed to look after his future. It caused a blazing row between them and the trust, which was already fragmented, really suffered.”
Dan is since thought to have moved out of the former marital home, which Jacqueline has stayed in with the kids. A pal is said to have told The Sun: “Jacqueline and Dan are on a break and are spending time apart from each other. It’s not been easy for them lately and they have made this difficult decision. Neither of them knows what is going to happen in the future, but for now they’ve decided living apart and taking a break from each other is what they need.” The Mirror have approached Jac and Dan’s reps for comment.
