Virgin Media rivals Sky with blockbuster TV channel upgrade that you get for free

Must read

Virgin Media has confirmed it’s boosting its TV service and it’s an upgrade Sky won’t currently match. The telly and telecoms provider is now offering its users full access to two new channels which are totally free to view. The FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) services include Wonder (Ch 238) and Red Bull TV (Ch 556) with both offering plenty of additional content.

Wonder features shows around groundbreaking engineering, innovative technology, and scientific exploration, whilst Red Bull TV is packed with action such as motorsport, biking, snowboarding, and more.

If you have Virgin Media TV devices in your living room, you should now find both channels in Virgin Media’s TV guide. You can also track them down using voice control as well. Virgin says there is no need to retune or reboot its set-top boxes with things upgrading automatically.

These new channels now join the existing 32 FAST channels already available across Virgin TV, including Tipping Point and Deal or No Deal.

Speaking about the update, David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, commented: “We’re always looking to offer Virgin TV customers the best entertainment, so we’ve added two more action packed streaming channels for them to tune in to and enjoy.

“With Wonder and Red Bull TV, we’ve got back-to-back inspirational and awe-inspiring stories from around the globe providing customers with even more round-the-clock viewing to enjoy at no extra cost.”

Although Virgin may have these new channels, Sky has an upgrade way to watch things thanks to the launch of its new Glass Gen 2 TV. This device now gets better visuals, improved audio and a more simple set-up. Just like the original Glass, it also doesn’t need a dish to work with content beamed to the big screen using the web instead.

Prices start from £14 per month.
