“Archie Following in Great-Grandfather Prince Philip’s Footsteps”

Must read

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet, are growing up away from their royal relatives in California due to their parents’ rift with the royal family. Despite their distance from figures like King Charles and Prince William, five-year-old Archie seems to be taking after his great-grandfather, the late Prince Philip.

Recently, Archie has developed a new interest that aligns with the late Duke’s passion. In one of Meghan’s episodes on Netflix, she shared a heartwarming story about Archie catching two trout during a summer fishing trip. Meghan, 43, also mentioned how she enjoyed salt baking the fish with her children, creating lasting memories in the kitchen.

Fishing was a beloved pastime of Prince Philip, who often spent leisurely days fishing for salmon and trout on the River Dee in Balmoral. He passed on this love of fishing to King Charles, who then taught his sons, William and Harry, the art of angling.

Apart from fishing, Archie has also shown an interest in rugby, as revealed by Prince Harry during a video call with Ellery Hanley MBE, a former rugby league captain. Harry expressed his desire to introduce Archie to rugby and emphasized the importance of outdoor activities for his son.

While Harry has been an advocate for rugby, Archie’s budding hobbies could potentially lead him to connect with Mike Tindall in the future. Tindall, a former England rugby captain and husband of Princess Anne’s daughter, hosts a popular rugby-themed podcast. Although Harry and Mike used to bond over rugby when they were both part of the royal family, their relationship may have strained following Harry and Meghan’s public criticisms of the royal institution.

Overall, Archie’s diverse interests in fishing and rugby reflect his parents’ efforts to provide him with a range of formative experiences outside of the royal spotlight.
