“May Bank Holidays to Impact Benefit Payment Dates”

Must read

Next month, the payment dates for thousands of individuals receiving benefits may shift due to two upcoming bank holidays in May. This change could affect those receiving benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HMRC, including Universal Credit and Child Benefit. The first bank holiday falls on May 5, so if your benefit payment is due on that day, you can expect to receive it on May 2 instead as benefit payments are not processed on bank holidays.

The second bank holiday occurs on May 26, meaning that if your benefit payment is scheduled for that day, you should receive it on May 23. While the payment amount remains unchanged and will be deposited into your usual bank account, you will need to budget more effectively to cover the extended period until your next benefit payment.

In case your expected benefit payment does not arrive, you can contact the DWP helpline at 0800 328 5644. It’s important to note that the helpline is closed on bank holidays, but you can reach out on the preceding working day or the day following the holiday.
