A mother, Geri Rimer from Yorkshire, has shared the harrowing details of the last time she saw her daughter Lindsay before she disappeared and was later found deceased. Geri recounted feeling a sense of unease when Lindsay unexpectedly arrived at a music venue called the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge while Geri was out with a friend. Lindsay, who had been at home with her father earlier that day, mentioned the need for cornflakes and left after Geri gave her money for the purchase. However, Lindsay never returned home.
Thirty years after Lindsay’s disappearance, Geri fondly remembered her daughter on a BBC Crimewatch episode, expressing her regret and longing to turn back time. Geri recalled the moment when Lindsay was last seen on CCTV buying cornflakes at a local store before vanishing near a bus station. The next day, Geri received a call from a newsagent reporting that Lindsay had not shown up for her paper round. This prompted Geri to notice Lindsay’s untouched school money and paper bag, leading to the realization that Lindsay had not returned home.
Despite extensive community efforts and a missing person’s inquiry by West Yorkshire Police, Lindsay’s body was tragically discovered five months later at Rawdon Mill lock. She was found wearing the same clothes she had disappeared in, with the loose change from her final purchase still in her pocket. Lindsay’s family continues to seek closure and justice, with her sister Juliet reflecting on the void left by Lindsay’s absence and the desire to have her present for family gatherings and shared experiences.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of West Yorkshire Police emphasized the importance of any information that could help solve Lindsay’s case, revealing that a post-mortem examination indicated Lindsay was likely strangled and her body weighted down with a boulder. Lindsay’s sisters have initiated a social media campaign and website to gather support in uncovering the truth about Lindsay’s tragic fate.
