A woman has been sentenced to prison for subjecting a teenage boy to a horrifying series of abusive acts, including compelling him to consume dog excrement. Selica Romana Wright, aged 34, faced severe allegations of violence, such as stabbing the boy with kitchen tools and scalding him with boiling water.
Despite her conviction, Wright displayed no remorse in her prison correspondence intercepted by Auckland prosecutors. She brazenly expressed her lack of regret and even indicated a willingness to repeat her actions. The disturbing incidents took place in Glen Eden, Auckland, New Zealand, leading to Wright’s arrest in October 2023 when the boy managed to escape, bearing injuries including a fractured spine.
Court records outline the harrowing account of mistreatment. Wright, fixated on degrading acts, forced the boy to ingest dog waste under threat of violence. She prohibited him from hydrating after the ordeal and continued to inflict physical harm, culminating in a vicious assault with a hammer. The boy sought refuge at a relative’s residence, but Wright pursued him, continuing the abuse.
In the months preceding her apprehension, Wright escalated her cruelty, culminating in a series of violent episodes. She utilized various weapons, including a metal vacuum cleaner pipe and a hammer, inflicting severe injuries on the boy. The sustained abuse left him with multiple bruises, cuts, and broken bones.
The court, despite objections from the defense, classified the acts as “torture,” a term deemed fitting by Judge Lummis given the extreme brutality and sadistic nature of the crimes. The judge remarked on the rarity of such heinous behavior in the judicial system and emphasized the need for a significant sentence. Consequently, Wright was sentenced to a 10-and-a-half-year imprisonment term.
