“Waitrose Launches Delivery Pass: Save Big on Groceries!”

Must read

Waitrose has introduced a new subscription service targeting loyal supermarket customers who frequently order groceries for home delivery. The service offers a one-month pass for £8, a six-month pass for £45, and an annual pass for £85. Alternatively, customers without a pass can book a one-time delivery slot for £2 to £4.

By signing up for the annual pass, Waitrose estimates that customers could save up to £123 per year compared to paying £4 per week for each delivery slot. Subscribers to the delivery pass will also gain early access to Christmas delivery slots, which will be available starting in September.

Laura Burbedge, Waitrose’s online director, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing its online platform to provide customers with better value and a superior shopping experience. Following a successful trial period where many customers enrolled in Delivery Passes, Waitrose anticipates significant demand nationwide.

In contrast, Tesco offers a six-month anytime delivery pass for £7.99 per month (£47.94 total) or a 12-month subscription for £6.99 per month (£83.88 total). They also provide an off-peak pass for deliveries after 3 pm, priced at £4.99 for six months (£29.94 total) or £3.99 for 12 months (£47.88 total). Additionally, a six-month click and collect package is available for £2.49 per month.

Sainsbury’s charges £7.50 monthly for an anytime delivery pass, or offers a six-month subscription for a one-time payment of £43 and a 12-month subscription for £80. Customers can also opt for a midweek pass at £4 per month or £40 for a year.

Waitrose recently reinstated complimentary tea and coffee for loyalty cardholders, even if they don’t make a purchase. Furthermore, the supermarket has initiated a trial allowing customers to borrow reusable cups for their free coffee to reduce plastic waste. Customers must return the cup within a week to a designated drop-off point to avoid a £3 fee, with the process simplified by scanning their MyWaitrose card.

The company informed customers via email about the free hot drink policy change and the new reusable cup trial, emphasizing the importance of bringing their own cup. A Waitrose spokesperson mentioned that the reusable cup trial is ongoing in nine branches and is accessible for MyWaitrose members redeeming their free coffee or cafe customers making a purchase.
