Renowned actress Nicole Kidman has opted for a hiatus from her acting commitments following a busy schedule last year.
The recipient of an Oscar award, Kidman appeared in various projects such as A Family Affair, Spellbound, Babygirl, and TV series like The Perfect Couple, Expats, and Lioness season two within a single year. In 2024 alone, she worked on six different acting endeavors, excluding her involvement in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers and the promotional activities for her upcoming movie Holland.
After completing the promotional tour for Holland, Kidman intends to take a well-deserved break. During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the Lion star mentioned that this year’s schedule is less hectic compared to the previous one. She expressed her plans to take time off after filming the next season of Nine Perfect Strangers, stating that she will be “off for the rest of the year”.
In her latest role, Kidman portrays a reclusive teacher in the small town of Holland, Michigan, who becomes suspicious of her husband’s potential double life. The director of the thriller, Mimi Cave, commended Kidman’s keen producer instincts during pre and post-production phases and her ability to step back while filming.
Cave emphasized Kidman’s dedication to her projects, noting her precise involvement in enhancing the script without being overbearing. She praised Kidman’s focus on understanding the director’s vision and her transition to fully embody her character during filming. Cave likened Kidman’s approach to “lightning in a bottle,” highlighting the star’s commitment to remaining emotionally and physically present for her roles.
Kidman disclosed her discomfort with being labeled a “superwoman” despite receiving numerous accolades. She expressed her aversion to the term, explaining that it often implies a woman’s ability to juggle career and family effortlessly. Kidman’s candid revelation stemmed from the realization of the challenges she faced, including difficulties with breastfeeding post-childbirth.
