“Police Fatally Shoot Man Wielding Bow in Gunnedah”

A man was fatally shot by police after he pointed a bow and arrow at them during an incident in Gunnedah, located approximately 450km north-west of Sydney. The police were responding to a welfare check call at an address on Quia Road. Upon their arrival, the man engaged with the officers outside the residence, then reappeared armed with the weapon, prompting the police to take cover in their vehicle.

In the ensuing confrontation, the police discharged their firearm in response to the man aiming the bow and arrow at them. Despite attempts to save him, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The New South Wales Police initiated a critical incident investigation into the shooting, conducted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers. The investigation will undergo scrutiny by the Professional Standards Command and oversight from the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission. The public was reminded not to disclose information through NSW Police social media channels for this matter.
