Must read

A cutting-edge city, Qiddiya in Saudi Arabia, is currently under construction in the desert and is set to become a massive urban hub with a price tag of £30 billion. Once completed, it will be three times larger than Paris and will boast unique amenities, including its own racetrack.

This ambitious project is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to diversify the nation’s economy by incorporating sectors like tourism and entertainment. Qiddiya, situated 45km from Riyadh and 70km from King Khalid International Airport, will span approximately 360 square kilometers and house around 500,000 residents across 20 different neighborhoods.

Referred to as “The City of the Future,” Qiddiya will showcase a Formula 1 racing circuit, a stadium designated for the 2034 World Cup, and man-made beaches. The city’s 2024 ESG Report emphasizes its commitment to sustainability despite emissions from construction activities.

While still in progress, Qiddiya has already unveiled certain sections, such as the site for the Dakar Rally and the newly opened $1 billion Six Flags theme park, which welcomed visitors on December 31st. The theme park features Falcon’s Flight, the world’s longest, tallest, and fastest rollercoaster, offering riders speeds exceeding 150mph and reaching heights of 195m.

CEO John Reilly of Six Flags expressed pride in introducing Six Flags Qiddiya City, hailing it as a groundbreaking project that will revolutionize entertainment in the region. The city promises state-of-the-art attractions and immersive experiences for visitors of all ages, solidifying Six Flags’ reputation as a global entertainment leader.
