A tragic train collision in Spain’s Córdoba province has resulted in the orphaning of a six-year-old girl, as four family members lost their lives in the accident that claimed a total of 39 lives. The deadly crash involved a northbound train from Málaga to Madrid’s Atocha station and a southbound train from Madrid to Huelva, carrying nearly 500 passengers.

The parents of the young girl, who were returning from watching the Lion King musical in the Spanish capital, were among those killed in the collision. The deceased couple, Jose Zamorano and Cristina Alvarez, along with their 12-year-old son, Pepe Zamorano, and their cousin, Felix Zamorano, were identified as the victims of the crash. The orphaned girl, who miraculously survived with minor injuries, is now under the care of her grandmother in Cordoba.

Authorities have declared three days of official mourning for the victims, expressing profound sadness and solidarity with the affected families. Flags will be flown at half-mast, and all scheduled events will be suspended as a mark of respect during this mourning period.

Messages of condolences and support poured in from friends and acquaintances of the deceased family members, highlighting the profound impact of the tragedy on the community. As search efforts continue for missing individuals, the town remains hopeful for positive outcomes amidst the somber atmosphere following the devastating train crash.
