ICE Shooting in Minneapolis Leads to Blame Game

Must read

Another individual fell victim to a shooting by ICE agents, causing further distress in Minneapolis, with swift attempts by the government to shift blame onto Joe Biden.

Recent reports revealed that a man was shot in the leg by an ICE agent in the northern part of Minneapolis shortly after Renee Good, a mother of three, was fatally shot in the head. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the man tried to evade a “targeted traffic stop” by crashing his car and fleeing on foot. The DHS claimed that two individuals then attacked the ICE agent with a snow shovel and broom handle, leading to the agent shooting the man in the leg out of fear for his safety.

The DHS, led by Trump ally Kristi Noem, managed to implicate the former President, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, in an attempt to divert attention from the unrest in the city.

In a statement released by the DHS following the incident, the opening line read: “At 6:50 PM CT, federal law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted traffic stop in Minneapolis of an illegal alien from Venezuela who was released into the country by Joe Biden in 2022.”

Mentioning Biden’s name was unexpected, and the continued efforts by Trump to blame the former President, who has been out of politics for a year, have been cringe-worthy.

Notably, these Trump associates managed to shift focus away from the actions of ICE in Minneapolis by making political attacks.

The Democratic governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, and Democratic mayor, Jacob Frey, also faced criticism from the Trump administration after two federal agents shot individuals in Minneapolis.

The DHS statement further stated: “This attack on another brave member of law enforcement took place while Minnesota’s top leaders, Governor Walz and Mayor Frey, are actively encouraging an organized resistance to ICE and federal law enforcement officers.

“Their hostile rhetoric and opposition against individuals merely carrying out their duties must cease. Federal law enforcement officers are experiencing a 1,300% surge in assaults as they risk their lives to apprehend criminals and violators of the law.”

US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche went as far as labeling the governor and mayor’s leadership as “terrorism.” In a provocative post, focusing on the two Democratic leaders rather than the actions of ICE agents, he stated: “ICE operates in thousands of counties without incident. Men and women are fulfilling their duties, safeguarding us from criminal aliens.

“The Minnesota insurrection is a direct outcome of a FAILED governor and a TERRIBLE mayor inciting violence against law enforcement. It is reprehensible. Walz and Frey – I am committed to halting YOUR terrorism by any means necessary. This is not a threat. It is a pledge.”

Mayor Frey stood up against Washington’s intimidation and criticized ICE, stating that the controversial agency was causing turmoil in Minnesota. Local residents are evidently fed up and frightened by the influx of ICE agents into their city, as the Trump administration reported deploying around 3,000 additional officers in recent weeks.

Massive protests erupted following the tragic death of Renee Good after she was shot dead while dropping her young son off at school. Trump and his supporters labeled her a “domestic terrorist” in a disturbing attack on the deceased woman, with JD Vance even suggesting that her death was “a tragedy of her own making”.

Despite claims that the mother attempted to run down ICE agent Renee Good in an unprovoked manner, bodycam footage released two days later raised doubts about many of those assertions from MAGA supporters.

Subsequent protests after the latest shooting saw federal agents resorting to tear gas and pepper balls against local residents who had reached their limit with their city being overrun by masked immigration agents detaining and shooting individuals.

The aggressive response to protesters and the blatant attempts to blame Joe Biden illustrate how Trump and his allies continue to politicize a tragic death and the ongoing turmoil in the suffering city.
