A former university peer of Claudia Winkleman has come forward revealing a discrepancy in the information she shares with the public. Winkleman pursued art history studies at the University of Cambridge.
While at university, Claudia recounted a humorous anecdote about sleeping on the floor after acquiring a sunbed for £40 per month. Describing herself as “curled up like a mushroom,” she humorously narrated how she managed to accommodate the sunbed in her student accommodation.
Stuart Murphy, the former controller of BBC 3, noted that Claudia Winkleman had a notable presence at Cambridge. Despite any claims suggesting otherwise, Murphy affirmed that she was indeed a prominent figure on campus.
In a documentary titled Claudia Winkleman: Behind the Fringe, Murphy reminisced about their time at university, describing Claudia as eccentric, humorous, and highly intelligent.
Jake Brown, a recent jackpot winner on The Traitors alongside Leanne Quigley, expressed surprise at Claudia’s down-to-earth demeanor off-screen. Brown commended Winkleman’s genuine personality, remarking on her surpassing the public image seen on TV.
Leanne Quigley also praised Claudia, highlighting her warm and caring nature behind the scenes while maintaining a professional persona.
Claudia Winkleman, aged 54, has garnered popularity on The Traitors since its launch in 2022, captivating viewers with her distinctive style and witty commentary.
Former contestant Paul Gorton, whose exit led to Harry Clark’s victory in 2024, commended Claudia’s comedic talent, suggesting she could excel as a stand-up comedian.
Gorton praised Claudia’s genuine nature during a personal encounter at the Royal Albert Hall, emphasizing her caring and invested attitude towards others.
Despite the show’s increasing viewership, Claudia expressed surprise at its immense success, attributing it to the intriguing psychological dynamics and addictive nature of the series.
The Traitors airs tonight at 8.30pm on BBC One (January 23).
