“Actress Denise Welch Embraces ‘Helicopter Parent’ Role”

Must read

Actress Denise Welch has admitted to being a “helicopter parent” as she is deeply involved in her sons’ lives. The 66-year-old Loose Women panelist expressed her desire to be a part of every aspect of her children’s lives, including her sons, The 1975 member Matty, and actor Louis.

The term “helicopter parent” describes individuals who are perceived as overly protective and controlling of their children. Despite the negative connotations associated with the term, Denise, who shares her children with actor and ex-husband Tim Healy, sees no issue with her level of involvement in her sons’ lives.

Despite being labeled a “Poundland Kris Jenner” by her sons, Denise has no intention of changing her behavior. In an interview with the i Paper, she humorously described herself as always being on high alert and inserting herself into her sons’ lives with unsolicited advice and solutions.

Denise confessed to feeling the need to communicate with her sons daily and expressed a humorous exaggeration about wishing for an alert system like those used by police departments if they don’t respond promptly to her messages.

Acknowledging her hovering tendencies, Denise jokingly referred to herself as holding a “helicopter parent pilot’s license” in her column. She reflected on her parenting style, admitting that she has become more hands-on as her sons have grown older and emphasizing her need for their reassurance now more than ever.

Denise has been vocal about her personal struggles, including battling postnatal depression and overcoming difficulties in bonding with her first son, Matty. She shared her experiences on the Loose Women podcast, recounting the challenges she faced during pregnancy and the emotional turmoil she went through after becoming a mother.

Opening up about her postnatal depression, Denise revealed her initial struggles with breastfeeding and the sudden onset of depression just days after giving birth. Despite these challenges, she has been candid about her journey as a mother and continues to prioritize her sons’ well-being.
