Amazon is rolling out a major free upgrade for select Fire TV Stick models to enhance user experience. The update includes a fresh design with modern interface elements, updated typography, redesigned color gradients, and improved layouts on the homescreen. Users can expect faster navigation, with performance improvements of up to 30% when browsing menus.
Apart from visual and speed enhancements, users can now pin up to 20 apps on the home screen, compared to the previous limit of six. Amazon has streamlined access to Games, Art & Photos, and the Ambient Experience through the Menu button on the remote. Additionally, a new shortcut panel accessible by long-pressing the Home button provides quick access to essential Fire TV controls like audio and display settings.
One of the key features of the update is the introduction of Alexa+, Amazon’s upgraded assistant, which will debut in the UK later this year. The enhanced Alexa experience aims to simplify content discovery for users.
In addition to the Fire TV Stick update, Amazon is also redesigning the Fire TV mobile app. The revamped app will allow users to browse content, manage watchlists, and play titles directly on their TVs, serving as a second screen that mirrors the updated Fire TV interface. The app will remain free to download and use.
The update is set to roll out in the U.S. initially, with a global release planned later this year. The new Fire TV features will be available on the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series in the U.S., with expansion to more devices and countries, including the latest Fire TV 4K streaming media players, in the spring.
