Ant and Dec fans brand duo’s unexpected behaviour a ‘crime’ at Carabao Cup final

Must read

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly landed themselves in hot water with fans after they were spotted engaging in some very strange behaviour. The duo stepped out for the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, and were captured by plenty of fans watching the nail-biting match.

The Britain’s Got Talent hosts were even caught on Sky’s cameras as they supported their team Newcastle United, who eventually took the win from Liverpool Football Club 2-0. In contrast to their usual TV outfits they kept things more casual in comfy clothes, at times sporting Newcastle scarves to give their backing.

The biggest change, though, was how they were standing to watch the game. Instead of being Ant on the left and Dec on the right as they always are on their ITV shows, they switched their order around – and fans weren’t having it.

“That’s a crime from Dec and Ant,” one person said on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a second adding: “Dec and ant like ffs its ant and dec.” A third admitted: “They are messing with my head.”

“Don’t know who they are if they stand that way around,” another person joked, while a fifth person echoed: “Standing the wrong way round. Just saying it’s very confusing.” Another fan firmly wrote: “I’m not having that. Dec is supposed to be on Ant’s left.”

While the I’m a Celebrity duo had very fancy seats to watch the Newcastle victory, Ant didn’t take any special treatment as he waited thirty minutes in the queue alongside the side’s other fans to get into Wembley Stadium.

When inside he didn’t immediately sit next to Dec, but was soon reunited with him when Newcastle snagged their first goal.

Spirits were high when they sat together and watched their win, even posting a TikTok of their celebrations. Standing up with the rest of the crows, Dec screamed at the camera: “Well? We did it!”

Ant seemed to have spent the whole match shouting, and wheezed: “Toot toot. I’ve lost my voice. Oh my god, this is amazing.”

Dec then declared: “I can’t believe it. This is the best day of my life. Apart from my wedding, and the kids. But it’s the best day of my life.”

Ant and Dec’s Sunday and the footie comes after they shared that they don’t spend as much time together as they used to. Ant, who welcomed his first son last May, admitted to the Sun: “The kids take up a lot of your time, and we rush home to our families to see them when we finish working.”

Dec, who shares Isla, six, and Jack, two, with his wife Ali, added: “We still meet up on days off to have a game of golf or go out for dinner. We’re just not joined at the hip…”
