Anthony Joshua Hospitalized After Nigeria Car Crash

Must read

Anthony Joshua has been hospitalized after sustaining ‘minor injuries’ in a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two individuals. Reports indicate that the former heavyweight champion was involved in a collision between his Jeep and a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in southwestern Nigeria.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, confirmed the incident while on vacation in the Caribbean. Hearn mentioned that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital at the time but had limited details to share.

According to a local news source, Joshua was seated in the back of the vehicle during the accident and suffered minor injuries. He was part of a two-car convoy comprising a Pajero SUV and a Lexus SUV, with his security team following in another vehicle.

An eyewitness described the scene, stating that Joshua was seated behind the driver in the Lexus SUV, which was involved in the crash with a Pajero SUV. Tragically, two occupants in the Lexus, including Joshua’s companion, lost their lives in the collision.

The incident, where Joshua’s vehicle reportedly veered into the truck following a tire blowout, is currently under investigation by local authorities.

Eyewitness images show Joshua standing, and local police have confirmed his well-being, mentioning that the 36-year-old boxer is in good condition despite the minor injuries sustained.

Joshua, who was in Nigeria visiting his parents, had recently shared a video on his Instagram playing table tennis with his trainer before the accident. He had been recovering from an exhibition fight in Miami, where he secured a victory against Jake Paul.

Looking ahead, Joshua hinted at significant plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury, expressing anticipation for future boxing matches. Both fighters have engaged in verbal exchanges over the years, with the potential for a showdown on the horizon under the organization of Riyadh Season and Turki Alalshikh.

After his recent win, Joshua directly addressed Fury, challenging him to step into the ring and settle their differences through action rather than words, signaling a potential future bout between the two heavyweight contenders.
