In London this festive season, Apple’s iPad has brought a delightful surprise to onlookers. The renowned tablet has been utilized to craft 24 festive designs that are now illuminating the renowned towers at Battersea Power Station, a building that also serves as Apple’s UK headquarters.
These vibrant artworks were carefully selected from numerous submissions received from the public in Apple’s “Your Tree on Battersea” competition. As night falls, these images will adorn two of the towering 101-meter chimneys overlooking the River Thames.
Expressing her excitement, Varsha Simha from Canterbury shared, “I’m thrilled to have been chosen in this competition. My inspiration came from the cozy Christmas market with its sweaters, stockings, and warmth during the coldest months.”
Additionally, 7-year-old winner Miah D.B expressed, “I’m ecstatic to have been selected. I created this tree on iPad because I enjoy drawing on it, drawing inspiration from emotions.”
Alongside the winners, drawings by notable personalities like Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa are also being showcased.
This competition continues Apple’s tradition of honoring festive creativity and marks the first time the company has opened such an opportunity to the public.
In past years, artist David Hockney presented Bigger Christmas Trees on iPad Pro in 2023, while Aardman, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, utilized iPhone 16 Pro Max for a short animation last year.
Chawawa expressed, “Hosting Apple’s inaugural iPad Christmas tree competition is a special moment for me. It’s amazing to see the nation come together to create Christmas trees on iPad and display them across the magnificent city of the world.”
These captivating images will adorn Battersea from today until Christmas Eve.
