A mother who claims she was exposed to pepper spray during a bachelorette party in Poland has expressed her reluctance to revisit the country. Jana Silgale, accompanied by five women, had journeyed to Krakow for her younger sister’s pre-wedding celebration.
Following a bottomless brunch on Saturday, the group embarked on a bar tour around the city center. While en route to the reputed “best nightclub in Krakow,” the hen party encountered a distressing incident where Jana, aged 33, alleges they were pepper sprayed by an unidentified man.
Recounting the unsettling ordeal, Jana explained that as they traversed the main square, a group of men conversing in a foreign language approached them. Despite indicating a lack of comprehension, they suddenly heard a spraying noise.
Describing the aftermath, Jana shared with the Liverpool Echo, “Initially, it seemed like water from a gun, lacking immediate discomfort. However, it swiftly led to burning sensations in our eyes, nose, mouth, and skin, causing widespread distress.”
Reflecting on the harrowing experience, Jana expressed her fear and helplessness in a foreign land, emphasizing the lack of assistance despite the distressing situation. Fortunately, some members of the group remained unaffected and guided the affected individuals to a nearby McDonald’s for relief.
Following their return to Liverpool the next day, the hen party collectively decided never to revisit Krakow. Jana asserted, “Our inaugural Polish visit will likely be our concluding one. The incident has left us averse to any memorabilia or future trips to the locale.”
The group’s vow to abstain from returning to the Polish city stems from the shocking encounter, prompting Jana to advocate for awareness of their ordeal to caution others about potential risks.
