The quest to find a new face for the iconic character James Bond has taken an intriguing turn with reports suggesting that Barbara Broccoli, the producer, is contemplating casting a relatively unknown actor.
Mike Dickman, known for minor roles in movies like Barbie and Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny, reportedly met with Broccoli, expressing interest in auditioning for the role. Dickman, a 40-year-old actor and long-time partner of Heather Mills, engaged in discussions with Broccoli last year regarding a potential collaboration with her company, EON Productions.
Sources reveal that during their meeting, the topic of Bond emerged, leading Broccoli to encourage Dickman to submit an audition tape. Although it remains unclear if further discussions ensued, this development sheds light on the previously secretive casting process for the 007 franchise, now overseen by Amazon MGM Studios.
In a recent report, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s involvement was described as merely exploratory, with challenges in finalizing a successor to Daniel Craig. Industry insiders characterized the casting process as notably vexing.
Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond was in the 2021 film No Time to Die. Dickman, transitioning from a finance role at Ernst & Young to a stint at Manchester City Football Club, is now making a mark as an actor. Previously involved in production, Dickman is now transitioning to acting, with upcoming projects including a Netflix series on Gandhi, along with two film ventures: ‘Secrets’ and ‘The Manor.’
Expressing enthusiasm for his upcoming projects, Dickman hinted at an executive producing role in a female-led war film. Speculation about Dickman’s rumored marriage to Mills in 2021 has circulated, although the couple’s long-standing relationship dates back to 2015 when they first met on a train.
