Bulgaria has been identified as the leading destination for an economical summer vacation this year, recommended for families planning a getaway. TravelSupermarket’s data for 2026 peak booking season showed Bulgaria as the most budget-friendly option at an average of £760 per person for a week-long all-inclusive stay. Following closely were Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862.
The analysis, based on family holiday searches from last October to the present, focused on travel between May and September 2026, revealing significant price variations among popular destinations. Bulgaria’s average weekly cost has decreased by £54 per person, representing a 7% drop since the previous summer. Conversely, Cyprus topped the list as the priciest at £1,186 per person.
Spain, a perennial favorite among Brits, ranked fourth with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining consistent pricing compared to 2025. Turkey and Greece followed in 11th and 12th places, with average prices of £1,057 and £1,096 respectively. Croatia emerged as the 10th most affordable destination this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person, marking a 12% decrease from the previous year.
For long-haul trips, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most cost-effective option at £1,247 per person, trailed by the United Arab Emirates, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, noted Bulgaria’s resurgence as a top choice for budget-friendly all-inclusive vacations, emphasizing the continued value offered by Tunisia and Morocco. The significant price reduction in Croatia also makes it a more attractive destination for families seeking affordable travel options.
