Eddie Hearn has resolved his defamation lawsuit against Jake Paul outside of court, leading to the case not proceeding to trial. The legal action was initiated by Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing three years ago in response to allegations made by Paul, a former YouTuber now turned professional boxer. Paul had publicly accused Hearn of influencing boxing judge Glenn Feldman following two high-profile boxing matches: the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua and the initial fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
Criticism arose over Feldman’s scoring in Joshua’s favor during the heavyweight rematch, and the first encounter between Taylor and Serrano, co-promoted by Matchroom and Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, ended in a contentious split decision in Taylor’s favor. Paul expressed dissatisfaction with Feldman’s scoring, stating his belief that Serrano should have won the fight, leading to a public dispute.
In response to Paul’s comments, Hearn pursued legal action seeking damages exceeding $100 million. Subsequently, Paul counter-sued after his initial attempt to dismiss the lawsuit was rejected by a New York judge. However, all involved parties, including Hearn, Matchroom Boxing, Feldman, and Paul, recently informed a New York court about reaching a settlement in the defamation case.
Legal documents filed with the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, confirmed the dismissal of the case with prejudice and without costs or fees to either party. Another filing indicated that all parties had entered into a Settlement Agreement, with plans to submit a formal Dismissal Agreement by March 31, 2025.
