“Emma Raducanu Battles Health Issue in Miami Open Quarter-Finals”

Must read

Emma Raducanu received medical attention during her remarkable journey to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open, where she was defeated by the fourth-seeded Jessica Pegula. The British player had a health check on the court in the second set of the match due to some difficulties she faced.

Despite this, Raducanu was able to continue playing and appeared to be in good condition as she exited the court after her loss, concluding her successful Miami run. Pegula managed to withstand Raducanu’s strong performance in the middle of the match to secure a challenging 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 victory.

Following the match, Raducanu mentioned feeling dizzy and faint, attributing it to the humid conditions and physical exertion during the game. Despite the setback, her Miami quarter-final achievement marked her best performance since winning the 2021 US Open title.

Pegula acknowledged Raducanu’s efforts in her post-match remarks, recognizing the tough battle they had on the court. Pegula will now face the 19-year-old wildcard Alexandra Eala in the semi-finals, who caused an upset by defeating world number two Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals.

In the men’s competition, the top-seeded Alexander Zverev fell to the French 17th seed Arthur Fils in a surprising turn of events. Additionally, Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria outlasted Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in an intense three-set match that lasted nearly three hours.
