An actor from Emmerdale, aged 30, who was part of the show’s cast between September 2018 and October 2019, has excitedly announced the arrival of his newborn baby. Asan N’Jie, known for being dismissed from the series after a confrontation with Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the 2019 TV Choice Awards, shared the joyous news of becoming a father on social media.
Asan, now embracing his new role as a dad, revealed the birth of his son, Leo-Mekailu, through heartwarming photos alongside his partner Kirsty. Well-wishers flooded in with congratulations, with one fan expressing, “Huge congrats to you both!” Emmerdale co-star Amy Walsh also joined in the celebration, commenting, “Awww such gorgeous news babe.”
The news of the pregnancy was disclosed just last month when Asan hinted at the upcoming arrival on Instagram, eagerly anticipating meeting their baby boy. Asan’s portrayal of Ellis Chapman on Emmerdale came to an abrupt end following the altercation with Jamie Lomas at the awards ceremony, where he uttered threatening remarks towards him.
Post the incident, Asan’s contract was terminated promptly, and another actor took over the role of Ellis on the show. Despite the fallout, Asan continued to appear in pre-filmed scenes of Emmerdale as Ellis Chapman for a brief period. Soap executives confirmed that the character would remain on screen for an additional six weeks due to the challenges of removing him from ongoing storylines without disrupting episodes.
In 2023, Asan starred alongside John Travolta in the Christmas film, The Shepard, based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel. Despite the controversial exit from Emmerdale, Asan has since appeared in BBC1’s Bloodlands opposite James Nesbitt and BBC2’s Industry.
