Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara was emotional as she provided an update on her family. The 41-year-old recently joined the cast of the musical Chicago for its latest touring production. This move came after she expressed feeling anxious about being away from her one-year-old daughter, Lyra, whom she shares with her husband, Aljaž Škorjanec, 35.
Janette is currently in Ireland for shows at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin from March 11 to 15. Following this, the production will move to Northern Ireland for performances at the Grand Opera House in Belfast from March 17 to 22. During this time, Janette revealed that she will not see Aljaž or Lyra and instead mentioned that they will be spending time with Aljaž’s family in Slovenia.
The It Takes Two host took to her Instagram Story to share her feelings about being away from her family. Tearfully, she expressed her emotions after bidding farewell to her husband and daughter, offering words of encouragement to other working parents facing similar situations.
In the video, Janette conveyed, “Just said my goodbyes to Aljaž and Lyra, and I won’t see them for two weeks now but sharing is good because it makes us all feel better. And I miss them a lot. It’s the longest I’ll be away from Lyra so just starting to count down to the day I see her again.” She also reassured herself and other parents, stating, “But in the meantime, I’m gonna stay strong and know that mommy is making her proud. And she is gonna have the best time with her cousins and her nan in Slovenia. Anyways, to all the parents that have to say goodbye to their kids for work or for whatever reason, it’s always tough but we’ve got this! We’ve got it.”
Accompanying the video, Janette shared a message for her followers, emphasizing the importance of sharing and supporting one another in similar situations. She wrote, “It always makes me feel better to share. Hope this also helps other working parents out there. It’s hard but we got this.”
Earlier, she had discussed the challenges of being away from Lyra during the tour while appearing on the One Show. She mentioned that Aljaž and Lyra would accompany her to various venues, with plans to return home during breaks to spend quality time with her daughter.
Before parting ways for their upcoming commitments, Janette and Aljaž enjoyed a family outing with Lyra, as seen in photos shared on social media. Following her performances in Dublin and Belfast, Janette is scheduled to return to England when the Chicago tour visits Bournemouth at the end of the month.
