Actor Jan Patrick “J.P.” Schwieterman, famous for his role as the antagonist Kurt Bozwell in the 1997 comedy film Good Burger, has passed away at the age of 52 after a brief battle with cancer. Jan died on February 28 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri, confirmed by his brother Chad in a heartfelt statement. Jan, who began his career in Hollywood after moving to Los Angeles post high school, was a talented actor with guest appearances in TV shows like McKenna, ER, and Forever before his breakthrough role in Good Burger alongside Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.
After gaining fame in Good Burger, Jan continued to showcase his acting skills with roles in Felicity and other projects. Despite taking a hiatus from acting after 2000, he made a comeback with the indie film Along the Way in 2008. Although the sequel to Good Burger was released in 2023, Jan opted not to reprise his role. Survived by his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins, Jan was remembered not only for his acting but also for his passion for travel, photography, painting, martial arts, and Dungeons and Dragons.
Jan’s memorial took place on March 4, where donations were requested to be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas in his honor.
