“Harry Brook Risks IPL Ban with Second Withdrawal”

Must read

Harry Brook risks facing a two-year ban from the IPL if he withdraws for the second time. Brook, who became a millionaire after joining the IPL in 2023 following England’s T20 World Cup victory, withdrew from the 2024 edition due to his grandmother’s passing.

Scheduled to play for Delhi Capitals in the 2025 IPL, Brook has opted out shortly before the tournament’s commencement, explaining that he needs time to rejuvenate. The 26-year-old is a contender for England’s white ball captaincy following Jos Buttler’s resignation, but his IPL future could be jeopardized by this decision.

In a social media post, Brook expressed his regret over withdrawing from the IPL, emphasizing his lifelong dream of representing his country. Despite potential disapproval, he prioritizes preparing for England’s upcoming matches and appreciates the support he has received.

The new IPL regulations stem from franchise concerns over overseas players pulling out of the tournament, with non-injury withdrawals now resulting in a two-year ban. Injury-related withdrawals must be supported by the player’s home board to be accepted.

Recent reports indicate that the England and Wales Cricket Board relayed Brook’s decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Delhi Capitals are set to kick off their 2025 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24.

Ahead of the 2025/26 season, Sky has discounted its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering over 1,400 live matches across various leagues. Sky will broadcast at least 215 live Premier League games next season, a notable increase from previous seasons.
