ITV Britain’s Got Talent fans fume over ‘annoying’ new format change minutes into show

Must read

Britain’s Got Talent made a triumphant return to ITV with more auditions from Blackpool, but despite one 11-year-old boy’s impressive performance, some viewers took to social media to air their grievances.

Young hopeful Oliver hit the stage with an electric guitar in hand, aiming for a spot at the Royal Variety Performance, while his proud grandad watched on with Ant and Dec.

Despite confessing to nerves, Oliver delivered electrifying renditions of Van Halen’s Jump and Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now, earning praise from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI.

The audience were equally wowed, calling for the judges to hit the golden buzzer, reports the Daily Express.

But as Oliver celebrated, some fans felt it was “too soon” for such a moment, though they all agreed he did brilliantly.

One tweeted: “#BGT too many golden buzzers now someone needs to unplug that buzzer asap! ! !” Another viewer vented: “Does the audience just chant ‘PRESS THE GOLD’ to every act now? ? #britainsgottalent #bgt.” (sic)

A third echoed these sentiments, saying: ” Needs to be less golden buzzers ! ! ! #BGT Only few episodes in and already button worn out!” (sic)

“As much as Olly deserved the Golden Buzzer – can we please stop having the audience decide who gets a Golden Buzzer? It should be the judges choice not influenced by the audience. #BGT,” complained another. (sic)

Despite some backlash, there are plenty of supporters who believe Olly deserved the Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent, with one fan exclaiming: “Olly is definitely a guitar virtuoso! What a great Golden Buzzer selection, Amanda! ! !” (sic)

Another viewer was charmed by KSI’s reaction, saying: “Ksi shouting ‘that was sick’ for Olly, haha bless him! Deffo deserved the golden buzzer.” (sic)

Although we’re only three weeks into Britain’s Got Talent, Oliver isn’t the only act that’s been fast-tracked to the live semi-finals. The judges, including the new addition Bruno Tonioli and hosts Ant and Dec, each have one opportunity to hit the Golden Buzzer, catapulting an act straight through to the semis with a shot at performing at the Royal Variety Performance and bagging a hefty £250,000 prize.

The first to be honoured with the buzzer was vocalist Vinnie McKee, who wowed the notoriously tough Simon in the opening episode with his rendition of the anthem I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). Following him was impressionist Will Burns, who earned a joint buzzer from Ant and Dec, especially after nailing impressions of the beloved presenters themselves.

And filling in for Bruno, KSI hit the golden buzzer for Stacey Leadbeatter, who moved audiences with her heartfelt performance of Snow Patrol’s 2003 hit, Run.
