Rachel Reeves has pledged to bring an end to the prolonged rail challenges in the North of England by injecting £45 billion to revolutionize the region. The Northern Powerhouse Rail project, which has faced multiple delays under the previous government, will involve the development of new rail connections to and from Manchester, along with significant enhancements to infrastructure in West Yorkshire.
During a significant media briefing in Leeds, the Chancellor detailed how this initiative could reshape northern cities, stimulate job creation, and contribute a substantial annual £40 billion boost to the UK economy.
