LG TV owners are in for a treat this holiday season as LG has unveiled a significant upgrade to its LG Channels platform. The update, which has started rolling out, offers a plethora of new features and additional free content, including shows from Sky, without the need for a subscription.
Users with specific LG screens can now enjoy content from Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault, and Sky Sports Classics, along with the recently added Sky News channel. The update also introduces new content like LG1 Christmas, FIFA+ Women Channel, and DP World Tour for diverse viewing options.
The LG Channels service, known for its Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) model, will display ads during programs. Alongside new channels, the upgrade brings enhancements such as personalized content recommendations and a revamped user interface for easier navigation and content discovery.
A new “Quick Access” feature enables viewers to access channel information, the TV guide, favorites, and popular content instantly by pressing the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a show.
Chris Jo, Head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, commented on the upgrade, emphasizing that LG Channels aims to provide users with seamless access to engaging content. The recent enhancements, including a new logo and improved personalization features, aim to enhance the viewing experience for millions of users worldwide.
