Love Is Blind stars Ollie and AD’s original pod romances after unexpected engagement news

Must read

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Love Is Blind.

The much anticipated season eight reunion of Love Is Blind was overshadowed as eyes turned to former contestants Ad and Ollie, who dropped their delightful news while chatting with hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey.

Netflix viewers have been keen to catch up on the post-show updates a year after series eight wrapped up, and it appears most couples haven’t stood the test of time.

Except that is, for Taylor Haag and Daniel Hastings, the sole pairing to tie the knot, now celebrating purchasing their first home in the Minneapolis suburbs.

Yet, it was the unexpected appearance of past Love Is Blind favourites Amber Desiree “AD” Smith and Ollie Sutherland that truly sparked excitement among the fans.

Having featured in separate seasons, with Ollie from the inaugural UK installment, they eventually met during their appearance on the third season of Netflix’s Perfect Match.

Whispers of a budding romance had been circulating, but it was only at the Love Is Blind reunion when it was officially confirmed – not just that they were dating, but engaged.

Audiences got a sneak peek of Perfect Match where Ollie took AD to an idyllic beach spot and shared the heartfelt words: “You’re my best friend, you’re the love of my life. I’ve never felt as happy as I have since I’ve met you.”

Dropping down on one knee, he continued: “Nothing would make me happier than spending the rest of my life loving you”, to which she ecstatically said “yes” amidst his marriage proposal.

While fans are thrilled about this pairing, many are reminiscing about their initial love interests on Love Is Blind and their original matches.

AD featured in the sixth season of Love Is Blind where she encountered 31 year old entrepreneur Clay Gravesande, a former track star at the University of South Carolina and six-time NCAA All-American.

Despite an immediate spark between them, the first hurdle arose when Clay questioned AD about her looks, stating he wouldn’t choose a woman unless he knew what they looked like.

She briefly pursued another romance in the pods but ultimately, she and Clay got engaged.

The Love Is Blind stars continued their relationship outside the show; however, it was Clay who ended things.

He confessed that he wasn’t ready for marriage due to personal reasons and had commitment doubts, leading him to break up with AD.

Ollie appeared in the inaugural season of Love Is Blind UK, hosted by married couple Emma and Matt Willis.

He formed a strong bond with safeguarding and attendance manager Demi Brown and decided to take their relationship beyond the pods by getting engaged.

However, despite making it to their wedding day, Demi decided they weren’t right for each other as even though Ollie was a good man, he wasn’t “her man”.

She later expressed that she had gained a lot of self-knowledge during the process and wanted to focus on her personal development rather than on a partner.

Judging by both Clay and Demi’s social media activity, it appears that neither of them have found new love, while their exes AD and Ollie seem to have found each other.

Love Is Blind is available to watch on Netflix.
