Love Island star announces birth of ‘unexpected’ child and vows to ‘show up’ for his son

Love Island alum Idris Virgo has excitedly shared an adorable surprise. The pro boxer dropped some huge news on Instagram, introducing fans to his baby boy. In the post shared today, Idris, 31, snapped a photo of a baby boy, reaching up to grab onto his finger.

Alongside the gorgeous shot, the ITV star explained that his new fatherhood was unexpected, but that he was more than ready to be the best dad he could be.

“Life has a way of throwing curveballs, and this has been the most unexpected and incredible one yet: I’m now a father. I didn’t see this chapter coming, but when life calls, you answer,” he wrote.

“A man’s duty is to show up, protect, and provide – and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I’ve been blessed with a beautiful son.”

In the comment section, many friends and fans sent congratulations for the huge life change. “Congratulations my G!” Marcel Sommerville exclaimed.

“Congrats bro,” echoed Britain’s Got Talent judge KSI, while boxer Fes Batista penned: “Beautiful… congratulations you’re a good man and deserve all the happiness in the world.”

Idris seemed moved by all the love and support given to him and his baby son, and took to his Stories with a video of the boy lying on his bed and looking around the room. “Thank you guys,” he wrote, along with a heart emoji.

Idris was on Love Island’s fourth season, back in summer 2018. He didn’t have the longest stint, entering the villa on Day 36 and quickly heading home on Day 40.

Even though his time in Casa Amor was years ago, he made it clear at the time that he was reliable and looking for something special.

He continues: “I have had a few girlfriends but have been single for two and a half years. I don’t think my exes would say anything bad about me because they all loved me but things just didn’t work out.

“I need to settle down now. I need someone to push me and motivate me so it is time to find someone,” he said before he entered, adding that he was “very against cheating” and a big fan of loyalty.

In 2021, he even shared that he was considering going on Married at First Sight to have a second shot and finding someone to settle down with.

Idris again suggested he might be back on TV in 2023, when he suggested he might call time on the boxing ring. “I do want to start acting, I want to get into acting and hopefully get into a small series or a cameo in one of those movies,” he told the Daily Star.
