Love Island star Jack Fincham was seen entering Basildon Crown Court on Friday in preparation for appealing his prison sentence. The 33-year-old had been sentenced to six weeks in jail for his involvement with his Cane Corso dog named Elvis, which was deemed dangerously out of control.
Arriving at court on Friday morning, Fincham appeared somber, dressed in a white t-shirt, cardigan, and brown overcoat, carrying a large shoulder bag and his phone. He had slicked back his hair for the hearing, and his girlfriend Chloe Brockett was not by his side at that time.
Following his initial sentencing in January, Fincham was released on the same day after lodging an appeal. The case stemmed from two incidents involving Elvis, the first being an attack on a runner named Robert Sudell in Swanley, Kent, last September.
Despite an initial apology and agreement for caution and dog ownership training, a subsequent incident in Grays, Essex, resulted in another out-of-control episode where a woman was attacked but not harmed. At the end of January, Fincham admitted to two charges related to the incidents.
During sentencing, emotional scenes unfolded in court as Chloe Brockett, present to support Fincham, was visibly upset by the outcome. In addition to the jail term, Fincham was ordered to pay a total of £3,680, including a £961 fine and £200 compensation to the victim, Mr. Sudell.
Magistrate Anne Wade allowed Fincham to pay the sum in installments, starting at £400 per month, after his representative cited his client’s lack of savings. Although initially taken into custody in January, Fincham was released the same day due to his appeal.
While awaiting the appeal hearing, Fincham had to adhere to strict conditions, including regular reporting to the police and stringent measures for Elvis, such as muzzling in public and restriction from being left alone with minors under 16.
