A man, aged 56, has been sentenced to five years in prison for committing historical sexual abuse against children. Edward Riley was convicted in February of multiple indecent assaults on minors. He appeared at Worcester Crown Court on March 14 for sentencing after being found guilty of six counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, two counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14, and two counts of inciting a boy under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency.
These offenses took place between 1982 and 1986 in Kidderminster. In 2025, Riley has been placed on the sex offenders register for life. Detective Constable Sally Sliwinska of West Mercia Police emphasized the seriousness with which they handle sex offenses, regardless of when they occurred. She praised the courage of the victims in coming forward and expressed hope that the sentencing would provide some closure.
Efforts to combat predators like Riley, who cause immense harm to children, will be ongoing.
