Man’s ‘genius’ air fryer hack to stop sausages sticking leaves some people horrified

Must read

Air fryers have become all the rage in UK kitchens, with people absolutely loving their energy-saving magic during these tough economic times.

Not only are they a nifty gadget to help reduce those hefty energy bills, but they’re also convenient to stow away and can come in cheaper than running your regular oven. However, cleaning these trendy cookers can be a real headache – food particles tend to cling on for dear life inside that cranny-filled basket.

But worry not, as it turns out there’s a clever hack for a hassle-free clean-up, yet not everyone’s sold on it just yet. The TikTok channel KneelBrown, famed for its ‘easy dinner ideas and food inspiration’ and boasting videos that rake in up to 1.9 million views, has demonstrated a nifty way to rustle up a sausage sarnie without turning your air fryer into a disaster zone.

“Top tip: Cook your sausage on your bread,” suggests the caption, while the video guide involves lining the air fryer with slices of white bread and placing sausages neatly on top.

The result? ‘Sausage fried bread’ that apparently ‘doesn’t stick’. Viewers have flocked to the comments section to praise the trick – with fans suggesting it works just as well with bacon.

“To be honest, if this works you are a genius,” one admirer commented, and another user confirmed: “It does.” However, the hack didn’t go down well with everyone, with one critic labelling it ‘ridiculous’. “That’s the most disturbing thing I’ve seen,” commented one unimpressed user.

Another quipped: “Top tip… please don’t do this. I will call the police.” A third chimed in: “I just hope it wouldn’t be soggy and dry at the same time.”

If you’re hesitant about trying out the controversial hack, there’s another cleaning trick that’s been hailed as a ‘game-changer’ by social media users. Content creator Ciara Turley went viral after sharing her method for cleaning an air fryer without the need for hours of scrubbing.

Her technique involves adding a ‘squirt’ of washing-up liquid and a tablespoon of baking powder to the air fryer basket (once removed from the appliance). She then fills the basket with boiling water and leaves it to soak for 20 minutes.

Afterwards, simply pour out the water (avoiding the sink to prevent blockages), rinse with warm water, and dry the basket and racks with a paper towel before adding any food.
