The Princess of Wales has returned to a significant St. Patrick’s Day event she missed last year due to health reasons. Kate, serving as colonel of the Irish Guards, participated in the annual parade where she awarded medals and distributed shamrocks at Wellington Barracks in London. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the regiment, making the event even more special. In addition to her official duties, Kate generously bought drinks for the regiment to celebrate the occasion.
Sporting a green coat, Kate interacted with senior officers, presented medals, and carried out the traditional shamrock ceremony. She also met with Irish Guards veterans, junior cadets, and families during the event. This appearance follows her absence from last year’s parade due to recovery from surgery. Kate expressed her pride in the regiment through a heartfelt letter shared with the Irish Guards, apologizing for missing the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour events.
The Princess, known as Colonel Catherine to the Irish Guards, signed off her letter with the regiment’s motto, ‘Who shall separate us?’ Her recent activities include attending the Wales v England Six Nations match with Prince William, where they supported opposing teams due to their patronage roles in rugby associations. The royal couple enjoys watching their children, Prince George and Prince Louis, participate in rugby matches on weekends.
