An online petition has been launched by a distressed shopper in an attempt to prevent the closure of a Sports Direct store at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Rhyl this winter. The decision to close the store in October has left customers disheartened.
According to NorthWalesLive, the closure announcement comes as part of Sports Direct’s restructuring plans. The chain, owned by Frasers Group established by retail mogul Mike Ashley, operates approximately 500 stores across the UK.
Amy Jones, a concerned shopper, initiated the online petition on Change.org to advocate for keeping the Rhyl Sports Direct store operational. In the petition, she emphasized the store’s significance beyond retail, highlighting its role in supporting the local community and economy.
Expressing concerns about the impact of the closure, Jones stated, “Sports Direct in Rhyl is more than just a retail store; it’s a vital part of our community, providing not only shopping opportunities but also employment and backing for local sports enthusiasts.”
