“Spring warmth ahead: UK set to reach 16C, higher temps coming”

Must read

Britons who endured a recent cold spell can look forward to a taste of spring soon as weather forecasts indicate a surge in warmth to 16C. Despite a promising start with temperatures nearing 20C earlier this month, the mercury dropped, lingering in single digits and even below zero at times last week. Although temperatures have slightly increased recently, they remain relatively cool for this time of year.

New weather maps from WXCharts, utilizing data from MetDesk and Netweather, suggest even warmer conditions by the upcoming Wednesday. Projections show temperatures in some areas climbing back to around 20C within a few days.

According to the Netweather maps, maximum temperatures in the southeast on March 19 could reach 16C, with various locations in and around London, like Dartford, experiencing the highest temperatures. WXCharts indicate similar highs of 14C in the southeast and up to 13C in regions further north, such as the Midlands.

Areas above the Midlands are also expected to have more typical temperatures, hovering around 11C, still cooler compared to other regions. Even in Scotland’s usually chilly Highlands, temperatures are forecasted to be near 10C, touching a milder 8C.

While this warm spell will be enjoyable for many, the Met Office doesn’t foresee it setting a lasting trend, as rain and unsettled weather conditions are predicted to return later in the month. The long-range forecast for March 20 to 29 anticipates fine and dry weather at the start, followed by a new system bringing strong winds and rain in the subsequent week.

The forecast suggests that rain or showers may spread from the south or west by Friday (March 21) and into the weekend, potentially accompanied by strong winds. Unsettled conditions are likely to persist across the UK, with the possibility of heavy rain or showers, especially in southern areas. Temperatures are expected to initially be above normal, later reverting closer to average levels.
