Viewers captivated by Netflix’s popular drama series “Adolescence” can now enjoy another acclaimed series featuring actor Stephen Graham on the streaming platform. The 51-year-old actor starred in the five-part 2022 true crime drama “The Walk-In,” which also includes performances by actors like Dean-Charles Chapman, Leanne Best from “Line of Duty,” and Brendan O’Carroll, known for “Mrs. Brown’s Boys.”
Originally broadcast on ITV in October 2022, “The Walk-In” garnered positive reviews from both viewers and critics. The series, now accessible on Netflix, is based on the real-life story of Matthew Collins, a member of the activist group Hope Not Hate, who devised a plan to infiltrate the British neo-Nazi terrorist organization National Action and thwart a plot to assassinate Labour MP Rosie Cooper.
One individual, Jack Renshaw, received a life sentence for his involvement in the assassination plan against Ms. Cooper. In “The Walk-In,” Stephen Graham plays the role of Matthew Collins, with Dean-Charles Chapman portraying Renshaw and Andrew Ellis as the young recruit Robbie Mullen. Brendan O’Carroll makes a guest appearance as Uncle Ronnie in one episode.
During an interview with Radio Times in October 2022, Stephen Graham shared his motivation for participating in “The Walk-In,” emphasizing the importance of portraying truth in drama to spark conversations and debates among viewers.
Despite the critical acclaim for the series, MP Rosie Cooper expressed dissatisfaction with the way it was promoted, stating that she felt exploited by Hope Not Hate and ITV. She urged them to donate all earnings from the series to the Jo Cox Foundation, established after the tragic murder of MP Jo Cox in 2016.
Fans of Stephen Graham can explore more of his performances on Netflix, including other shows like “Bodies,” “Taboo,” and collaborations with director Martin Scorsese in “Gangs of New York” and “The Irishman.”
“Adolescence” also reunites Stephen Graham with collaborators from previous projects, such as writer Jack Thorne, known for their work on “This Is England” series and “The Virtues.” These series are available for streaming on Channel 4’s platform, while “Boiling Point,” created with “Adolescence” director Philip Barantini, can be viewed on BBC iPlayer.
Both “Adolescence” and “The Walk-In” are now accessible on Netflix for viewers to enjoy.
