“The Nuke Skips BBC Sports Personality Awards”

Must read

Luke Littler has announced that he will not be attending the upcoming BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, despite being nominated for the prestigious accolade. Instead, he has voiced his support for Lando Norris to clinch the top prize.

Known as ‘The Nuke’, the 18-year-old is among the six contenders vying for the award, with other nominees including Rory McIlroy, Chloe Kelly, Hannah Hampton, and Ellie Kildunne. Although he was also nominated last year but lost to Keely Hodgkinson, Littler is now focused on his upcoming match with either Mario Vandenbogaerde or David Davies, scheduled two days after the awards ceremony on December 18.

When asked about the awards ceremony, Littler stated, “No, I’m not going. I’m not going to it. I think they know. I think obviously the people in the top three on the betting odds will obviously go there and I think Lando will win. I think I’ve only missed out on four majors this year. So if I’d won them, do I win it? Who knows – but good luck to whoever’s going to win it.”

Littler’s immediate plans include relaxing at home, with a plan to attend Manchester United’s game against Bournemouth on Monday night. The avid Red Devils supporter recently witnessed their victory over Wolves and addressed inquiries about how he obtained tickets, explaining that Adidas provided him with tickets as part of their allocation for the game.

Having secured a 3-0 victory over Darius Labanauskas, Littler advanced to the next round at Ally Pally and reflected on his performance, expressing satisfaction with the win and acknowledging the challenges of the tournament. Looking ahead, Littler is preparing to defend his World Darts Championship title at Ally Pally, where he will face stiff competition from contenders like Luke Humphries.
