Tragic Crash Involving Anthony Joshua’s SUV

Must read

Two individuals lost their lives instantly in the SUV that Anthony Joshua was traveling in after a serious collision, according to witnesses. A bystander recounted the harrowing scene as the British boxer was transported to a hospital in Nigeria for treatment of his injuries.

Reportedly, Joshua’s car was accompanied by his security team and bystanders swiftly intervened following the accident to provide assistance. The SUV is said to have crashed into a stationary truck near Makun while on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun state.

It has been stated that Joshua’s vehicle veered off the road due to a tire blowout, leading to the loss of control. Local authorities, including the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, are investigating the crash and have confirmed Joshua’s involvement.

An eyewitness named Adeniyi Orojo shared with Punch newspaper, “It was a two-vehicle convoy consisting of a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver with another individual beside him. Additionally, there was a passenger next to the driver, making a total of four occupants in the Lexus that was involved in the crash. His security team was in the vehicle trailing them before the accident occurred. Other witnesses and I initiated the rescue efforts and flagged down passing vehicles for assistance. Shortly after the collision, officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived. Unfortunately, the passenger next to the driver and the person beside Joshua passed away at the scene.”

Mirror Sport spoke with Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, who was informed about the incident while on vacation in the Caribbean. Hearn indicated that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital but had limited details to share.

Joshua was in Nigeria, his parents’ native country, where he had recently defeated Jake Paul in a boxing match. Born in England and representing the United Kingdom, Joshua often displays the Nigerian flag.

The 36-year-old boxer hinted at significant plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury in his post-fight remarks. In a post on Instagram following his victory on December 19, Joshua expressed gratitude to his supporters and teased upcoming developments in the New Year.
